Responsibilities

The Senior Systems Engineer - Flight Controls Engineer will apply knowledge of advanced control techniques, air vehicle dynamics and flight control, inertial sensors, and analysis of missile performance in simulation, ground test, and flight test
In this role, you will develop solutions to complex problems that require application of advanced technical principles
You will be depended on for uncovering and resolving issues associated with development and implementation of flight control system designs
You will guide the successful completion of significant program efforts from planning to execution and represent the organization as an embedded authority on program efforts within the field of flight controls
You will develop flight control system architectures and requirements, implement advanced control laws to maximize performance and robustness, and program algorithms in higher order compiled computer languages
You will develop missile state estimation algorithms and derive advanced algorithms and filters to compensate for flexible body dynamics, aeroservoelasticity effects, and inertial coupling

Required

Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related STEM degree and a minimum of 5 years prior relevant experience in air vehicle flight control design and analysis
Course work, independent research, and/or work experience that includes a combination of at least two of the following: classical and modern control system design techniques, modeling of system dynamics, and state estimation
Experience developing or modifying code in higher level compiled languages such as Fortran, Ada, and/or C++
Experience with MATLAB and/or Simulink
Ability to obtain an Interim Secret U.S. government issued Security Clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain special program access after start

Preferred

Current and active Secret or above level Security Clearance
Master's or PhD Degree in an Engineering discipline, Computer Science, Math or Physics
Demonstrated ability to take an air vehicle autopilot from concept design to flight
Experience with embedded software development and hardware/software integration
Research and/or applied experience in advanced control design techniques in areas such as nonlinear, robust, optimal, adaptive, fault-tolerant, and real-time control
Air vehicle autopilot design experience over a wide range of aerodynamic regimes such as subsonic, transonic, supersonic, hypersonic, and non-continuum flows
Experience with system identification techniques applied to flexible body dynamics, aeroservoelasticity (ASE), and inertial coupling with application of structural filters to minimize impact to control systems
Experience assessing GNC system integration risks through test data analysis
Knowledge of system engineering design methods including requirements analysis and allocation, specification derivation, and interface control documentation
Performance analysis by simulation, including verification and validation techniques
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership and other engineering disciplines
Strong collaboration skills and experience leading a GNC-focused development team
