Senior Process Engineer, Metal Additive

Responsibilities
Own additive metal development for patient-specific dental components, from prototype to scaled production
Develop and optimize print parameters, support strategies, and build orientations for laser powder bed fusion or binder jet systems to achieve micron-level dimensional accuracy, density, and surface quality
Integrate automation systems (robotic loading, part handling, in-line probing, vision inspection) into additive workflows to achieve 24/7 “lights-out” operation
Establish process qualification and validation protocols, including density, mechanical testing, microstructure analysis, and dimensional control
Collaborate with R&D and design teams to improve manufacturability of patient-specific geometries while maintaining clinical fidelity
Lead root cause analysis and yield improvement across printing cells using structured problem-solving and statistical tools
Work cross-functionally with software, automation, and quality teams to build reliable, automated manufacturing lines capable of scaling to thousands of custom parts per day
Evaluate and qualify new additive platforms, powder suppliers, and metrology systems to expand Dandy’s manufacturing capabilities
Work with industrial automation vendors to design additive metal automation solutions
Qualification
Required
6+ years of experience in metal additive manufacturing, process development, or automation, ideally within medical device, dental, or aerospace sectors
Deep fluency in LPBF laser parameter development, scan strategy optimization, support generation, and thermal management
Experience developing or scaling post-processing workflows (heat treatment, HIP, machining, or surface finishing) for additively manufactured metals
Experience integrating automation and robotics into additive or finishing workflows
Strong understanding of statistical process control (SPC), process validation, and manufacturing scalability
A systems thinker who understands how digital design, additive manufacturing, and metrology interconnect
Comfort working in an agile, fast-paced, high-growth manufacturing environment
Preferred
Experience in dental, orthopedic, or other regulated medical device manufacturing
Program management
Background in titanium alloys, cobalt-chrome, or stainless steel powder metallurgy
Familiarity with FDA, ISO 13485, or GMP process validation
Exposure to closed-loop additive manufacturing (e.g., in-situ melt pool monitoring, recoater vision systems, or layer-wise QA)
Experience building fully automated LPBF cells, including powder recovery and part-handling robotics
Background in binder jetting or hybrid additive/subtractive workflows for metal components
