Sales & Service Technician (Central Office)

Frontier Internet is dedicated to improving digital access across America, and they are seeking a Sales & Service Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair central office and subscriber carrier equipment. Responsibilities

Install and maintain, for customers inside and outside of our operating territory, to meet customer and PSC standards for telephone service
Place buried plant (cable, fiber, pedestals, ground rods, etc.) and service drops
Perform maintenance repair and preventative maintenance on buried, aerial, underground cable/fiber (100 pr and below) using various plant elements
Place underground plant
Install, maintain, trouble-shoot, and repair special services equipment including, but not limited to, GDSL, AFC, DSL, SDSL, CKT's voice mail, POTS, specials, DACS, fiber terminals, video switch and associated video codec’s, outboard intercept, class announcement, T1, DS3, carrier, HDSL and router equipment in our central offices to meet company standards and practices
Input service orders into switches, data modifications to tables and switch translations as required
Read and interpret service orders, trouble tickets, circuit diagrams and electrical schematics
Learn the operation of new and existing equipment
Provide information to complete jobs, trouble tickets and service orders, coordinate with assignments as needed
Interact with and support outside plant workforce to coordinate and disseminate information needed to complete facility assignments for new service, DSl and other new circuits
Research trouble tickets with cable problems
Support and actively participate in promotion of company products and services
Aide and assist other departments and contractors as required
Perform all other duties/assignments as required by supervisor

Required

Minimum 5 years of telecommunications experience, including 3 years in a central office environment
Proficient at installing, maintaining and repairing central office equipment, PBX, key systems, pager systems, cable/fiber and any other special services equipment we sell, install or maintain for customers and interpreting central office drawings and schematics, IP Protocol and use personal computers
Proficient at installing, maintaining and repairing associated central office equipment including; subscriber carrier, DAX, fiber, MUX, voice mail, DSL, ATM switch and special access circuits
Must be able to splice 100 pr and above
Successful completion of at least 2-year post high school training in electronics, telecommunications or related discipline and or equivalent experience
Successful completions of Basic Electronics/Digital Electronics training
Must possess basic PC skills, i.e., keyboard skills and be able to retrieve data
Must demonstrate good oral and written communication
Must operate a motor vehicle and hold a valid CDL
Must be able to work aloft from a ladder
Must be able to work in confined spaces as well as in isolated areas
Must be able to distinguish colors
Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs
Must be able to work outside in extreme conditions including inclement weather
Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods on a regular basis (bending and stooping will be required on occasion)
Must be available for flexible scheduling, holidays, after hours and call-outs/week-end work and emergency situations (7x24 as needed at normal reporting locations as well as other sites throughout the state)
Must take Saturday area coverage in rotation with the I&M group. Weekly or monthly basis to be determined
