Power Electronics Engineer (Starlink)

Responsibilities
Design, develop, and test highly reliable power electronics to support our hardware that communicates with our satellites
Provide engineering expertise in the design, analysis, and testing of AC/DC and DC-DC power converters
Work on electrical power system and sub-system level design trades and develop requirements
Define and perform electrical power system verification testing and analysis
Work with multidisciplinary teams of design, test, and production engineers to create new power electronics hardware
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or other engineering discipline
1+ years of experience designing electronic products or hardware (internship or extracurricular experience is applicable)
Ability to work extended hours or weekends as needed for mission critical deadlines
To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
Preferred
Master's degree in electrical engineering
3+ years of experience in power converter development
Strong understanding of AC/DC and DC-DC topologies, with ability to select optimal architectures and components
Strong understanding of analog control and discrete logic design
Strong understanding of design for fault tolerance and reliability
Experience in modeling, simulation, and testing of power electronics
Experience in voltage and current mode control and compensation design
Experience with AC-DC converters and power factor correction
Experience with in-lab impedance measurement and loop-gain measurement
Familiarity with the design of wire-wound and planar inductors and transformers
Familiarity with power supply testing and packaging
Familiarity with electrical power systems and knowledge of electromagnetic radiation effects
