HDR is looking for a Substation Civil - Structural Engineer to join their growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals. The successful candidate will provide design support for various substation engineering projects and will have opportunities for growth and learning.

Responsibilities

Prepare engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports and designs for electrical substations (Low, Medium and High Voltage)

Prepare calculations, design sketches and redline drawings

Work with Designers and CADD Technicians to develop drawings in accordance with national design standards, safety codes and project specifications and requirements

Develop design deliverables including fabrication level steel drawings and foundation construction drawings

Participate on site visits during the design, construction and as-built phases of projects

May also assist with developing technical papers and/or presentations that showcase HDR's technical capabilities at industry conferences or other events

Participate in project reviews as needed

Some travel may be required

Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering

Computer skills in Microsoft Office

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or related engineering field

Master's degree

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work in a team environment

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Self-motivated and ability to take initiative

EIT certification or ability to pass the FE exam within 6 months strongly preferred. Candidates hired without their EIT will be titled 'Designer' and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression

Experience with Tedds, Lpile or similar structural design software

Prior experience consulting or working for an electric utility is a plus

Expose to substation design is a plus
