Responsibilities

Developing thoughtful, effective and innovative packaging solutions to support the preservation and safe shipment of all hardware
Creating packaging designs using CREO 3D CAD, including:
Protective cushioned packs
Corrugated structures
Wood crates and assemblies
Vacuum formed plastic
Initiating cost reductions and process improvements
Teaming with Mission Assurance, Test Engineering and Operations Personnel along with Traffic, Safety and EHS to ensure deliverables are achieved on time and with value
Create and update work instructions to ensure all technical requirements are captured and met for assembly
Perform Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action when defects occur
Planning, coordinating and executing Package Performance testing using ASTM D 4169 and/or International Safe Transit Association (ISTA) protocol
Developing and maintaining special packaging instructions and drawings meeting Military and Best Commercial standards
Proactively undertake safety initiatives including job hazard analysis and ergonomic assessments

Required

Typically Requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and minimum 2 years of relevant experience
Hands on experience with CREO, or other CAD software
Experience with project management
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Preferred

Knowledge of distribution environments and their influence on packaging design
Knowledge and experience meeting MIL STD 2073 military packaging requirements
Existing CFR 49/IATA certification (or ability to be certified) to package, mark, label, and ship dangerous goods
Lean manufacturing experience
Working knowledge of manufacturing assembly, torque controls and analysis of assembly tolerance stack up
Experience with cushion curves and design
Experience with shock and vibration testing and analysis
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to present ideas to senior level stakeholders
