Responsibilities

Collection, organization, research & analysis of project data
Application of policies, standards, details, specifications, and design guides from different jurisdictions
Writing technical reports summarizing conclusions and recommendations
Data and visualizations such as tables, charts, accurate reports, and illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses
Interpreting results and identifying engineering issues
Analysis of improvement alternatives
Traffic Signal Design
Traffic Signal Communication Design
ITS Design
Signage, signals, pavement markings
Intersection and corridor improvement studies
Intersection Justification Reports
Interchange modification studies
Signal phasing and timing optimization studies
Safety studies (crash analysis, collision diagrams, safety improvements)
Micro-simulation modeling

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline (or equivalent experience)
3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline and prior traffic design experience
Engineering Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) designation
Knowledge of traffic engineering principles, practices, process, and design/build related to traffic control equipment, capacity and operational analysis, project management, and related communications systems
Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements
Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and Power Point

Preferred

Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation, and other applicable design software packages
Knowledge of traffic engineering and planning software such as HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, ArcGIS
Project experience - Traffic operations and safety, signal design, signal timing, ITS design, DOT experience
