Responsibilities

Inspect / assess damage to aircraft structural components and formulate proper repair/replacement procedures utilizing applicable technical data
Remove and install close tolerance, high-strength fasteners in major aircraft structural components
Advises on structural repair, modification, and corrosion protection treatment with respect to original strength, weight, and contour to maintain structural integrity
Performs post repair flight control weight and balance functions as well as control surface rigging per designated technical orders
Inspect components/repairs for structural serviceability according to specifications and technical publications
Manufactures / use jigs, fixtures, forms, and molds to fabricate repair or replacement parts
Uses advanced metalworking practices, equipment, and tools to form, cut, bend, and fasten replacement or repair parts to damaged structures and components
Uses shop drawing and metal layout techniques; shop mathematics; corrosion identification, removal, repair, and prevention; cleaning of metals; application of protective coatings, and markings
Closes completed maintenance discrepancies in automated maintenance systems
Document maintenance as per Quality Assurance (QA) and established regulatory requirements
Stores, handles, and disposes of hazardous waste and materials according to environmental standards and company processes
Operates and maintains related aircraft Support Equipment (SE)
Use automated maintenance systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, document maintenance actions, and time change database
Perform regular Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walks
Maintain strict tool control procedures. Report missing, lost, found, or unattended tools to the supervisor. Inventory and inspect tools on a regular basis and replace worn or broken tools
Comply with safety rules and regulations while performing day to day maintenance. Promptly report all accidents, injuries, safety violations, and/or unsafe practices or procedures to supervisor
Maintain equipment records. Enter in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verify the work was performed satisfactorily
The Aircraft Structural Mechanic will be required to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization

Required

High School Diploma or equivalent required
2+ years of relevant aircraft structural maintenance experience with fixed / rotary wing commercial, Government or DOD aircraft or equivalent
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance

Preferred

Knowledgeable in depot level processes and procedures for replacement of major structural components
Able to use Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs. Working knowledge of advanced software applications is preferred
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airplane and/or Powerplant certification a plus
Previous Air Force Specialty Code 2A753 / 2A773 highly desirable
Experience supporting DoD contracts
Multi aspect aviation qualifications / certifications / disciplines highly preferred
