Responsibilities
Leading overhead transmission line design across all project phases, including EFM, conductor sizing, induction, impedance, losses, and voltage-drop analysis
Preparing and reviewing specifications, equipment data sheets, RFQs, bid evaluations, and purchase recommendations
Conducting lightning performance studies, grounding analysis, and economic conductor selection
Performing and overseeing clearance analyses in accordance with NESC and other applicable codes
Communicating and interpreting NERC, FERC, and regional reliability requirements
Reviewing vendor drawings and coordinating technical details with internal teams, clients, and suppliers
Supporting project schedules, budgets, scope management, resource allocation, and construction planning
Managing change orders and ensuring the effective application of project controls
Providing QA/QC reviews of drawings, models, calculations, and project documentation
Leading construction administration activities, resolving design-related field issues, and performing site inspections, measurements, and testing
Preparing technical reports, client presentations, and materials for industry publications
Building and maintaining client relationships while identifying new business opportunities
Participating in marketing, pursuit strategies, and proposal development
Preparing project budgets, cost estimates, and performance reporting
Mentoring and guiding junior engineers with expectations for strong leadership and team development
Ensuring compliance with all internal QA/QC processes, safety policies, and organizational standards
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related ABET-accredited discipline and 7 years of transmission engineering experience
Bachelor's degree in Civil/Engineering Technology (ABET) plus successful FE exam and 7 years of transmission engineering experience
Master's degree in Engineering and 6 years of transmission engineering experience
Expert knowledge of standard engineering techniques and transmission design procedures
Strong working knowledge of design codes and software: PLS-CADD, PLS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D, BIM/Revit, RISA-3D, MathCAD, and related analysis tools
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to conduct and review detailed engineering calculations and documentation
Strong analytical thinking, organization, problem-solving, team leadership, and collaboration abilities
Ability to lead design execution for large, complex projects and delegate effectively
Ability to travel as required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to guide junior staff and oversee multi-discipline project teams
Strong attention to detail, quality, and safety
Capability to manage budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and client relationships
Preferred
EPC project experience
Professional Engineer (PE) license
