Responsibilities
Leading development of PRA modules and/or associated thermal-hydraulic analyses that support risk-informed design and licensing activities
Development of Level 1 and Level 2 PRA models for internal and external events during full power and low power / shutdown operating modes
Lead RELAP5-3D and MELCOR modeling to simulate core and containment response for severe accident scenarios that inform PRA quantifications
Interface with the design team to communicate and implement PSA insights
Mentor junior staff
Ensure consistency and quality of all PSA deliverables
Qualification
Required
B.S degree in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, or closely related field from an accredited college or university
Familiarity with thermal-hydraulic behavior of light water reactors (LWRs)
Expertise with industry codes and methods associated with PSA calculations and thermal-hydraulic modeling (CAFTA, SAPHIRE, RiskSpectrum, RELAP5-3D, MELCOR)
6–10 years of experience in PSA and/or thermal-hydraulic safety analysis within the nuclear industry
Experience with PSA specialty areas such as external hazards (fire, flood, high winds, seismic) or low power/shutdown modes
Comprehensive knowledge of PSA regulatory requirements and ASME/ANS PRA Standards
Excellent technical writing, interpersonal, and communication skills
Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810
