GD162 Senior Software Systems Engineer & Architect
ADNET Systems, Inc. is partnering with NASA Goddard Earth Sciences to support scientific research through data services. They are seeking a Senior Software Systems Engineer and Architect to design, build, and deploy cloud infrastructure for Earth Science data collections and services, focusing on technical development and infrastructure-as-code concepts.

Responsibilities
Help design, build and deploy a cloud infrastructure to host GES DISC data collections and services
Support ongoing projects at the GES DISC
Have technical development responsibilities and help with design, coding, testing, integration and taking services to operations and delivery of applications based on infrastructure-as-code concepts
Architecting and developing scalable, elastic cloud systems leveraging serverless, microservices, and containerized architectures in AWS
Proficiency in backend development using Python and/or Node.js
Strong experience with Docker and container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, Amazon EKS)
Experience with Git and standard source-control workflows
Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and AWS CloudFormation
Hands-on experience with Earth science or geospatial data formats such as NetCDF, HDF, or GeoTIFF
Hands-on experience supporting migration of on-premises systems or data workflows to AWS
Experience with Zarr and Dask for scalable, parallel, and cloud-based data processing
Experience with the Jupyter ecosystem, including Jupyter Notebooks, JupyterHub, or JupyterLite, is a plus
Experience with frontend development (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, React) is a plus
Ability to work effectively in agile development environments, including Scrum and SAFe
Solve complex algorithm or data conversion problems with little or no oversight
Respond effectively to science data user questions on technical and scientific issues
Provide technical and scientific support in enhancing and extending data and information services
Make effective presentations to large audiences at workshops and conferences
Qualification
Required
M.S./B.S. computer science, or in physical or earth sciences or related engineering or remote sensing experience with 10+ years hands on programming and system design experience supporting satellite mission data
10+ years scientific programming experience and skill with use of languages such as (Python, Node.js, C/C++, or others) and data formats HDF/HDF-EOS, HDF5, netCDF4, GRIB, and related metadata
Programming and development in Unix/Linux server/cloud environment
Experience with code development, repository and management tools
Excellent inter-personal and communications skills
Motivated individual with a keen sense for problem solving and ability to work with little supervision and as part of a team
Experience leading small projects from inception through execution
Ability to work in a multi-task environment
US Citizenship required
Ability to obtain and maintain a Tier 1 Investigation through NASA
Preferred
