Powerhouse Technician - Mechanical and Electrical (2nd Shift)

Pratt & Whitney is working to transform the future of flight by designing, building, and servicing engines. They are seeking a Powerhouse Technician (Mechanical/Electrical) to perform repair work on utility systems and troubleshoot electrical equipment in an industrial setting.

Responsibilities

Perform repair work on central utility systems: steam and condensate, compressed air, various cooling water systems, chillers and chilled water, cooling towers and associated infrastructure, and electrical distribution infrastructure
Work with preventive maintenance program and schedules
Perform work on hydraulics, pneumatics and fluid systems
Perform work/troubleshooting on electrical equipment such as substations, breakers, MCCs, VFDs, motors, transformers, and bus laterals in an industrial setting
Perform Continuous Improvement initiatives
Interface with stock room to maintain a sufficient supply of spare parts
Perform check and layout work on parts using inspection tools
Service and repair equipment using proper methods, tools and specifications
Maintain logs and records as requested to communicate findings and prepare requests for approval
May be required to obtain and maintain training, operator permits and certifications within assigned area
Adhere to all EH&S guidelines, including wearing of required personal protective equipment
May be required to carry out tasks not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this position in support of department objectives and to develop one’s skills

Required

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
Work effectively as an individual with minimal direction, and as part of a larger team
Must be able to work overtime when required
Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. independently
Ability to read and work from blueprints and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
Must be experienced in operating machinery and equipment
Must have strong mechanical aptitude
Must have personal computer skills
Possesses strong communication skills
US Citizenship required due to government contract

Preferred

2-3 years' of related trades training or experience
2+ years of experience as a maintenance technician in an industrial manufacturing environment
Knowledge of facilities systems and infrastructure including electrical distribution, steam and condensate, compressed gases and cooling water systems
Ability to read and interpret Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and control schematics
Able to receive constructive feedback and adapt to change within a dynamic environment, viewing obstacles as opportunities
Demonstrate the application of structured problem-solving methods and tools
