PhD Health Services Researcher - Associate Professor or Professor
The University of Utah is seeking a senior-level PhD faculty member to join their Health Services Research Section in the Department of Surgery. The role involves conducting innovative research, mentoring trainees, and providing leadership in collaborative research activities focused on health services and outcomes research.

Responsibilities
Conduct innovative research that advances the field of health services and outcomes research
Mentor trainees (e.g., graduate students, postdoctoral fellows) and junior faculty in health services research
Provide leadership to develop collaborative, interdisciplinary research activities within the Department of Surgery and across the University of Utah
Foster partnerships between the Department of Surgery, the University of Utah Health system, and external research centers focused on health services and outcomes research
Qualification
Required
PhD in Health Services Research
Strong background in health services research
History of sustained external funding, with a preference for NIH funding (e.g. R01)
Proven ability to advance the science of health services research
Evidence of a successful research program, including a history of multiple funded R01 grants or equivalent
Experience working with large health and demographic datasets
Strong understanding of data systems and data linkage
Commitment to mentoring junior faculty as well as pre- and post-doctoral trainees
Ability to communicate effectively and obtain the committed support of a wide range of stakeholders
Track record of building successful interdisciplinary teams
Preferred
Dedicated Educator and Mentor
Develop and lead training programs, workshops, and seminars to enhance the research capabilities of trainees and junior faculty
