Spelman College is seeking a full-time Research Technician to provide direct support for teaching and research activities in Genomic Data Science. The role involves supporting the development of educational modules, managing data storage, and collaborating on research projects related to molecular biology and bioinformatics.

Responsibilities

Support the development and evaluation of educational modules in Genomic Data Science

Support troubleshooting and be a resource person for faculty and students

Support research project involving molecular biology and bioinformatic components

Collect data and manage the storage of collected data

Collaborates with PIs to develop yearly budget reports and annual program activity reports to submit via agency online system

Maintains project budget, order supplies, and monitor expenditures for program activities

Supervising undergraduate research students

Maintain equipment

Qualification

BioinformaticsMolecular BiologyLaboratory ProcessesData ManagementMicrosoft Office SuiteReport WritingPresentation Skills

Required

Master's degree in Biology or related field and research experience in bioinformatics or computational biology is required

Proficiency with laboratory processes and general molecular biology techniques is required

The ability to document experimental protocols and results is required

The ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations is required

The ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals is a plus

The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from other employees and managers is necessary

Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) are required
