Research Assistant for the Hoover Technology Policy Accelerator
Stanford University's Hoover Institution is a public policy research center focused on economics, politics, and international affairs. The Research Assistant will perform research on policy topics, conduct literature reviews, and manage operations related to the Technology Policy Accelerator and its initiatives.

Responsibilities
Assist in identifying existing research of relevance, exercising independent initiative and judgment gained from completing a variety of high level assignments
Interpret, synthesize, and analyze quantitative or qualitative data using scientific, statistical, or interpretive techniques as appropriate
Conduct literature reviews and provide critical analyses that influence the direction of the research and result in independent contributions to research initiatives under the auspices of the Hoover Technology Policy Accelerator
Fact-check and otherwise manage manuscripts prior to submission for publication
Engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve goals
Co-author sections of research publications and regulatory reports as needed
Complete project-related administrative and budgetary responsibilities as needed
Supervise staff or students as needed, including oversight and instruction on techniques, as well as consultation on project work
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Arts degree in an applicable social science related field and two years applicable experience, or combination of education and relevant experience in an applicable social science
Strong preference in degree or experience in combination with a STEM related field
Comprehensive understanding of scientific theory and methods
General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs
Strong analytical skills and excellent judgment
Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance
Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to complete detailed work accurately
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
Ability to work with human study participants
Developing supervisory skills
Preferred
Documented interest in issues of national security and/or emerging technologies such as AI or cyber as related to global economic competitiveness and public policy
Strong library research skills (especially the ability to find references to asserted or claimed facts)
Proficient in Microsoft Office
