Montana State University - Office of Student Engagement is seeking an Accounting Assistant Manager/Team Lead to manage a team of financial analysts. The role involves overseeing fiscal support and analysis, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing excellent customer service to various departments on campus.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of finance professionals, sustaining an effective, high-performing team that provides excellent customer service to client departments

Ensure the smooth and efficient flow of work through the team and clear communications with client units, providing accurate services in a highly responsive manner

Ensure accounting is compliant with state and federal rules, generally accepted accounting principles, governmental accounting, and financial reporting standards

Research and make judgments and interpretations on policy and compliance questions with support from other team leads and management structure

Ensure the quality of the team’s work: auditing, reviewing, and approving reports, corrections, invoices, payments, and other transactions as needed

Develop and lead training sessions for staff amongst the client user groups and provide direct support and training for new hires throughout the client user groups regarding accounting procedures

Develop and maintain thorough documentation of procedures for the team

Develop and maintain knowledge of client units sufficient to understand goals

Provide excellent customer service in accordance with MSU’s Service Excellence culture

Provide accurate financial information to client units, assisting with questions, communications, transactions, reports, policy interpretations, etc. as needed

Required

Must be a current MSU-Bozeman employee

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience

Progressively responsible experience in accounting or fiscal management

Demonstrated leadership and management skills to successfully supervise staff

Preferred

Demonstrated experience in supervising staff, utilizing strong leadership and management skills

Experience performing financial reporting and analysis, utilizing computerized accounting systems, spreadsheets, databases, and word-processing software
