Responsibilities
Lead the design and implementation of complex features for interfacing with diverse scientific laboratory instruments
Contribute to the technical architecture, roadmaps, and delivery of reliable, scalable software systems
Provide technical guidance and conduct design reviews to set a high bar for engineering excellence within the team
Design, develop, and test robust, cloud-native software systems for capturing and processing instrument data
Partner with product managers and scientists to deeply understand user needs and translate them into clear, actionable technical specifications
Apply and advocate for best practices in distributed systems, data engineering, and cloud-native architecture to inform design decisions
Qualification
Required
B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field plus 4+ years of professional experience in Biotech/Pharma, focused on building and deploying scalable software systems for scientific research
Deep, hands-on technical contributions and expert technical knowledge of principles related to distributed systems, data engineering, software architecture, and system design
Expert-level proficiency in Python and deep working knowledge of either Java or C#
Expert-level technical background in cloud-native architectures (ideally AWS)
Deep knowledge of lab workflows
Direct experience interfacing with a variety of scientific laboratory instruments (e.g., liquid handlers, plate readers, microscopes, mass spectrometers) is essential
