Motor Vehicle Operator-Direct Hire Authority
USAJOBS is seeking a Motor Vehicle Operator to operate various types of powered wheeled vehicles for transporting cargo. The primary responsibilities include driving heavy trucks, operating forklifts, performing maintenance checks, and ensuring safety practices are followed.

Responsibilities
Drives one or more types of heavy trucks, such as platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks, trash/garbage trucks or dump trucks, which are typically equipped with air brakes
Operates one or more electric, LPG, or diesel powered forklift trucks to facilitate loading and unloading duties
Performs operator maintenance, such as checking fluid levels and air pressure in tires, cleaning and washing of vehicles, and performing inspection checklists to ensure safe and proper operation
Maintains records and documents actions, such as operator inspection checklists/forms and accident/incident reports
Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment

This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays
Shift work and emergency overtime may be required

This position may require travel
Selectee is expected to be granted with and/or maintain the appropriate security clearance required for the position
Selectee may be required to serve a probationary or trial period
An appropriate, valid drivers' license may be required for this position
Selectee may be required to discern colors, contrast, and depth
Selectee may be required to operate passenger vehicles as required on an irregular basis
Ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth
Knowledge of and skill in operating one or more gasoline, diesel, or electric powered vehicles with a GVW of more than 26,000 and up to 32,000 pounds
Skill in loading and arranging cargo properly onto the vehicle using appropriate tie-downs such as chains, binders, or straps for safe transit of cargo to prevent shifting, protect cargo, and mark dangerous or protruding cargo
Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision
Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc
Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)
Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
