NEOGOV is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legislative Aide & Outreach Coordinator for the Office of Senator Rob Sampson. This role involves managing constituent inquiries, drafting responses, maintaining the Senator's calendar, and leading district-level outreach efforts.

Responsibilities

Manage and respond to constituent inquiries on policy, legislation, government programs, and state agency issues
Draft thoughtful, accurate written responses consistent with Senator Sampson’s policy positions and communication style
Maintain the Senator’s calendar; schedule meetings, events, and site visits; ensure he is fully prepared for all appearances
Coordinate with legislative research, legal, and press staff to support committee work, testimony, and public communications
Assist in preparing bill analyses, committee notes, talking points, and testimony during the legislative session
Troubleshoot constituent issues involving state agencies (DSS, DOT, DMV, DEEP, DOL, etc.)
Lead district-level outreach: arrange business tours, community visits, organization meetings, and facilitate local visibility for the Senator
Serve as the office’s warm, professional, and reliable front-facing representative in both written and verbal communication

Required

Strong writing and communication skills — clear, friendly, and professional
Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and under deadline pressure

Ability to represent the Senator and the office in a positive, respectful, and professional manner
Strong alignment with the Senator's values and approach to public service

Preferred

Knowledge of Connecticut government, public policy, or political processes preferred
Experience in constituent services, casework, public administration, campaigns, or communications is a plus
