Associate, HIV Access Program

The Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI) is a global health organization focused on saving lives and improving health systems in low-and middle-income countries. They are seeking a motivated Associate to support governments in sustaining essential HIV services by providing analytical and operational support, strengthening national capacity, and facilitating knowledge management across multiple countries.

Responsibilities

Conduct discrete analyses on HIV and integrated service delivery interventions (e.g., costing, forecasting, scenario modelling, funding-gap assessment, cost-effectiveness)
Strengthen financial and programmatic data use by generating insights that guide strategic and operational decisions
Support country teams to interpret data, evaluate prioritized packages of care, and align interventions with national guidelines
Maintain an organized and up-to-date repository of tools, models, evidence summaries, and strategic resources, ensuring proper version control and vetting of all shared resources
Produce high-quality evidence synthesis products, including briefs, policy notes, dashboards, and polished presentations, utilized to inform strategic planning processes including GC8
Conduct literature reviews and deep-dive analyses on HIV optimization, efficiency, and sustainability opportunities
Document lessons learned, best practices, and cross-country insights; facilitate knowledge exchange across teams
Track relevant global and country-level developments; produce periodic landscape analyses and digestible news updates
Support routine monitoring of project activities, outputs, and outcomes; help generate impact stories from data
Coordinate and support periodic reviews, reflection sessions, and adaptive management processes
Support development of learning agendas to strengthen programmatic evidence
Plan, coordinate, and execute key project activities, including work planning, scheduling, risk mapping, and activity tracking
Proactively identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve cross-team coordination and collaboration
Contribute to the development of scalable program concepts aligned with CHAI’s HIV sustainability agenda
Support proposal writing, donor engagement, and development of technical content for new funding opportunities
Perform additional duties as required to support the success of the program

Required

Bachelor's degree in public health, health economics, medicine, pharmacy, nursing, or a related field, plus 3+ years of relevant experience
Excellent analytical skills, including strong proficiency in Excel and experience building models, financial analyses, and data visualizations
Exceptional writing, synthesis, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical evidence into policy-relevant insights
Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills; ability to work effectively in multicultural environments and build productive relationships
Demonstrated ability to think strategically, solve complex problems, and manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments
Ability to work independently and proactively with minimal guidance, including on complex or ambiguous tasks
Strong attention to detail, with ability to ensure high-quality deliverables
Technical expertise in HIV/AIDS program area
Fluent professional English (written and verbal)
Willingness to travel 20–40% within Africa

Preferred

Experience working in low-resource settings, particularly in Africa
Familiarity with health-sector strategic planning, resource mapping, budgeting, or public financial management
Experience working with governments, donors, and global health partners
Knowledge of global health issues including health systems, supply chain, or diagnostics
Experience with STATA, R, SAS, or other statistical software
Master's degree in public health, health economics, or related field
Experience supporting Global Fund application cycles
