Responsibilities

Works independently and proficiently, under minimal guidance, to provide experienced technical assistance and operational support for a suite of application development and deployment tools hosted within AWS. Plans, schedules, and arranges own activities to accomplish objectives. Work is generally only reviewed for completeness
Works directly with users, such as developers within the Federal Reserve Banks, to resolve complex system and technical issues within the DevTooling services. Interacts and coordinates with Stakeholders to provide ongoing proficient level of support while coordinating with other teams third level support of applications, including application monitoring, application tuning, troubleshooting, resolution of complex technical issues, and development of or support for standard maintenance procedures
Responsible for maintaining the software currency and the vulnerability management of the DevTooling services. This includes regular software upgrades and patches of the services leveraging standard SDLC processes
Provides rotational 24x7 on-call support as necessary by the business, with no assistance needed and provides guidance for other team members on critical production issues. Performs data analysis, capacity plans, and execution of contingency plans
Collaborates with DevOps Engineers to understand the software products and any enhancements that are deployed.  Consults on issues and provides solutions related to the impact of development on the infrastructure.  Works with DevOps Engineers on defining any changes to configuration settings
With no supervision except in the most complex events, serves as the proficient subject matter expert for DevTooling services towards preventing (pro-active) as well as troubleshooting and mitigating (re-active) service availability/performance issues and works directly with users to resolve system technical issues
Ability to manage and administer with proficient ability the AWS cloud environment with no supervision, including provisioning, configuration, performance monitoring, policy governance and security.  Create standards and guidelines for large-scale distributed systems with a focus on operability
Identifies key operational metrics and the data necessary to create them; Test and ensure that all infrastructure components meet proper performance and capacity standards. In collaboration with SRE team implements and maintains dashboard, bots and other automation based on the current operational needs and current release changes. Evaluate improvement of the dashboards, bots, and other automation
Provide knowledge sharing, feedback, and coaching to team members through practices such as skill development and shadow peer work. Take a leading role on complex assignments requiring coordination across engineers with a demonstrated ability to work through others. Devise and execute plans to improve individual and team performance

Required

U.S. citizenship
Associate degree and 7 years of related work experience OR
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related work experience OR
Master's degree and 3 years of related work experience
Advanced baseline knowledge of AWS Cloud Platform technologies, application tech stack infrastructure, and practices in support of Operational needs in production environments including CloudWatch, Cloud Trail, ECS, Lambda, Canaries, DynamoDB, RDS, PostgreSQL, S3, API Gateway, Elastic Load Balancer, OpenSearch, Grafana, AWS X-Ray, SQS, Fault Injection Service (AWS FIS)
Familiarity with the application administration of tools such as GitLab, JFrog, SonarQube, and the Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence, Bamboo, Bitbucket)
Support production operational needs using GitLab, Grafana, OpenSearch, Docker and CI/CD pipeline and version control
Coding languages, such as Python, Go, NodeJS, .NET, Java, Infrastructure as Code, Configuration as Code, Alerts and Monitoring as Code
Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience with Linux operating systems and Bash scripting
Familiar with Deployment patterns, ITIL framework, Resiliency concepts and Disaster Recovery, and Chaos Engineering
Ability to communicate complex technical analysis to non-technical audiences
Ability to create, read and comprehend complex technical documentation
Requires following vaguely defined procedures
Ability to work independently and provide feedback to other team members
