Responsibilities

Works independently to take portions of a project from start to finish based on direction from the Project Manager, Lead Engineer, and Engineer of Record
Performs routine code review and analysis
Performs routine design calculations for sprinkler/fire alarm systems
Follows design standards set by the Project Manager, Lead Engineer, and Engineer of Record
Researches and presents fire protection system design options to the Project Manager, Lead Engineer, and Engineer of Record
Follows company master design standards
Ensures that the QA/QC process is followed and documented
Develops a working knowledge of all system types within their discipline
Develops knowledge of current design trends and best practices
Directs less experienced technical staff in how to perform routine design tasks and routine calculations
Trains less experienced staff how to use master design tools and standards

Required

Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering from an accredited university or college or a two year associates degree with 5 years related experience required
At least 3-6 years of related fire alarm or fire protection systems design experience
Able to apply knowledge gained through experience to new and novel designs
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong technical background

Strong written, verbal, and organizational communication skills
Maintain positive work relationships both internally and externally
Interact professionally with contractors and design professionals
Proficient in Revit and/or AutoCAD
