Senior EHR Specialist

Responsibilities
System configuration & support (Tier-2/3): Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot the EHR (e.g., CareLogic); perform root-cause analysis, and retire repeat issues
In partnership with the Business Analyst, convert approved requirements and data specs into technical designs; propose feasible technical options with pros/cons; provide implementation estimates; evaluate risks/constraints in the EHR system
Access & security operations: Provision/deprovision users and roles; uphold least privilege and SSO standards; document changes
Collaborate with IT team and compliance to ensure alignment on security baselines, incident response, and audit readiness
Data quality & auditing: Design and run validations, data integrity checks, and reconciliations across consumer/encounter/billing domains; maintain audit trails, access logs, change history, and evidence packages for HIPAA and payer/state audits; lead periodic access reviews
SQL & reporting operations: Write performant SQL (joins, indexing/tuning) to create governed, reusable datasets; build/maintain operational reports in Excel (experience with Power Query/Power Pivot, PivotTables/Charts; VBA a plus)
Testing & release readiness: Author and execute UAT scripts, regression tests, and cutover checklists for configuration changes and upgrades; document results and defects
Documentation: Create clearly written SOPs/quick guides; deliver targeted training on changes to existing workflows and tools
With vendors, coordinate technical issue resolution and user interface/dashboard defects
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in information technology (IT), Healthcare Management, Business Administration, or related field
5+ years hands-on EHR administration/support, preferably in healthcare or non-profit settings, preferably in CareLogic
Advanced Excel experience
Strong reporting and SQL skills and experience
Demonstrated auditing/compliance work (HIPAA/PHI, access reviews, audits)
Proven Tier-2/3 support with SLA management and root-cause analysis; strong documentation habits; clear communication with non-technical staff
Understanding of healthcare regulations, particularly HIPAA, and the importance of data security and patient privacy
Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to maintaining accurate and complete electronic health records
Ability to build and maintain relationships with coworkers, vendors, and customers
