AWI Seasonal Laboratory Technician II

Adirondack Watershed Institute is seeking a Seasonal Laboratory Technician II to support daily operations in the lab. This role involves sample receipt, processing, and analysis, and includes assisting in the onboarding of new seasonal technicians.

Environmental Services

Responsibilities

Maintain sample receipt and processing daily workflow
Perform laboratory analyses (e.g., chlorophyll, pH, conductivity, color, CDOM, total nitrogen, dissolved organic carbon) with limited supervision
Work closely with full-time lab staff to coordinate tasks and prioritize sample processing
Review data entries and documentation for completeness and accuracy
Help maintain lab inventory, restock supplies, and prepare reagents
Troubleshoot minor equipment or procedural issues
Follow all safety and quality procedures and assist in maintaining a clean, organized workspace
Perform other duties as assigned by the Lab Manager

Qualification

Required

Prior experience as a Seasonal Lab Technician I or equivalent laboratory experience
College coursework in environmental science, chemistry, biology, geology, or other natural sciences
Familiarity with lab techniques, QA/QC principles, and safety protocols
Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, and ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
Strong communication skills
Ability to work with a broad range of diverse individuals and groups to form a safe and inclusive campus community

Preferred

Pursing or awarded bachelor's degree in environmental science, chemistry, biology, geology, or other natural sciences
