Responsibilities

Monitor and troubleshoot Data platform services such as distributed storage, compute, and streaming

Develop and implement comprehensive monitoring, SLO tracking, and capacity-planning strategies that are well-aligned with business goals

Conducts deep-dive analysis of performance bottlenecks to optimize system efficiency

Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) to automate the deployment and management of cloud resources

As a Senior Cloud Engineer you will collaborate with data engineers, data scientists and data analysts to optimize data workflows and ensure seamless integration

Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards

Drive significant process improvements influencing wider team practices

Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies, proactively suggesting improvements and innovations

Required

BS /MS degree in Computer Science, or a related field

5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on platform engineering and cloud infrastructure

Extensive experience with Databricks and managing large scale data processing environments

Strong expertise in AWS services, including EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, Lambda and Cloud Formation

Proficient in core GCP services like Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Cloud Dataflow, Cloud Spanner, App Engine, Kubernetes Engine (GKE)

Proficiency in Python for data engineering and scripting tasks. SQL is always plus

Hands on experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management

Familiarity with data engineering concepts and tools (e.g.: Apache Spark, ETL processes)

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative environment

Passion for mentorship and knowledge sharing within a strong software engineering culture: Lead by example, foster the growth of SRE team members, and shape the direction of reliability engineering at H-E-B

Preferred

Experience with other cloud platforms (Azure) is a plus

Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and related tools (Git Lib, Terraform Cloud)

Certification in AWS, GCP, Terraform or relevant technologies
