English Language Development (ELD) Teacher - High School (26-27)

KIPP Public Schools Northern California is a nonprofit network of free, public charter schools dedicated to providing a world-class education. The ELD Teacher will facilitate language instruction for multilingual learners, develop lesson plans, and support teachers in integrating English language development into their curricula.

Responsibilities

Develop lesson plans for English language arts and English language development
Teach curricula aligned to ELD standards and Common Core ELA standards
Support and coach teachers on how to integrate ELD into their core content areas
Assess and analyze students’ performance and progress to ensure they are mastering developmental skills regularly, and responding to data to support all scholars to achieve academic success
Maintain an open line of communication with families
Work to maintain a positive culture on campus by building strong relationships with students and staff members
Successfully strike a balance of warm and demanding in your communication with students
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior for a productive learning environment during class sessions

Required

Hold a B.A/B.S degree from a regionally accredited institution
Hold a valid teaching credential or be in the process of securing one

Possess strong content area knowledge and skills building relationships with students, families, and communities
Teach in our extended day and year schedule
Contribute to a relentless and dedicated team of outstanding professionals
Communicate well with students, families, and colleagues
Have proficient knowledge of Google Suite applications (Google Classroom, Hangout, Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.)
Have the ability to learn and utilize instructional technology to support in-class and distance learning (i.e. Zoom, Nearpod)
Meet one of the following eligibility requirements: Hold a valid teaching credential in the subject of your desired role, or Eligibility for a Provisional Internship Permit or Eligibility for a Short Term Staff Permit (CPR certification by American Heart Association or American Red Cross is a prerequisite for this permit)

Preferred

Experience as an educator teaching Black and Brown students for one or more years
Spanish speaking
