Senior Manager, Government Affairs

Responsibilities

Serve as SoFi's primary representative leading direct engagement with the U.S. Congress, the Administration, and key staff
Develop and execute sophisticated, targeted advocacy strategies to proactively educate policymakers on SoFi's policy views and legislative priorities
Act as a liaison and relationship manager on advocacy, overseeing an engagement portfolio that includes key trade associations, think tanks, and consumer advocacy organizations, driving coalition efforts to advance the policy agenda
Serve as a spokesperson for SoFi at legislative and policy-focused events, forums, and conferences
Proactively seek opportunities to promote SoFi’s thought leadership and advocacy goals for the team and our business executives
Provide high-level, strategic advice and insights to the Policy and Government Affairs team and business teams on the political landscape and legislative developments
Summarize engagements and learnings for internal dissemination and advise the team on political and legislative activities to inform overall strategy

Required

8+ years of experience in government affairs, with a strong emphasis on direct lobbying and external relationship management. Ideally, this includes time at a U.S. government or congressional office and within a fintech, payments, or financial services company's government affairs team
Proven expertise in political and government affairs tactics and strategies, with a deep network of relationships in Washington D.C. and/or key state capitals
Demonstrated experience in administering and ensuring compliance for political giving as well as federal lobbying disclosure requirements
Deep working knowledge of fintech and/or financial services, especially in rapidly scaling environments
Adept at identifying complex legislative issues and translating them into actionable, external-facing advocacy strategies
Exceptional communication, writing, and presentation skills, with a track record of effective public speaking and relationship building
Proven ability to build and foster strong relationships as a natural connector and self-starter

Preferred

Advanced degree (Law, Public Policy, Political Management, Legislative Affairs, Political Science, or related field)
