Accountant/Payroll Specialist

The Accountant/Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing payroll processing, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with payroll regulations, contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.

Responsibilities

Oversee AP and produce monthly financials
Process and manage the full payroll cycle for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Maintain and update payroll records, including employee data, tax information, and benefits deductions
Prepare and file payroll tax returns and reports in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies in collaboration with HR and finance departments
Assist with month-end and year-end financial closing activities related to payroll and accounting
Support audits by providing necessary payroll and accounting documentation
Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws, tax regulations, and company policies
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and benefits in a professional and timely manner

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Experienced with AP/AR and producing financials
Proven experience in payroll processing and accounting, preferably in a corporate environment
Strong knowledge of payroll systems, tax regulations, and compliance requirements in the United States
Proficiency with accounting software and payroll platforms such as QuickBooks, ADP, or similar
Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Preferred

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar certification
Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle
Familiarity with benefits administration and HRIS systems
Advanced Excel skills including the use of formulas, pivot tables, and macros
Experience working in a multi-state payroll environment
