Responsibilities
Guide the programs’ academic, programmatic, and external structures
Promote communication among faculty members, practitioners, researchers, and students working in policy and international affairs
Create synergistic efforts that promote scholarly activities and enhance professional opportunities
Promote educational programs, conferences, and internships that reflect the intersection of policy and international affairs
Qualification
Required
Typically has the education associated with a master's degree
Evidence of mentoring/coaching expertise consistent with the goal of developing SPIA and IA students and helping them achieve academic excellence
Ability to encourage, develop, and evaluate teaching, scholarly research, and creative activity across the SPIA/IA spectrum
Documented extensive practitioner experience with significant international responsibilities
Strategic leadership experience, including involvement in external relations, fundraising, and/or community outreach activities
Evidence of well-developed administrative and management skills
Experience in a service-oriented mission and knowledge of an education devoted to international service
Preferred
A leadership style characterized by openness, flexibility, collaboration, and integrity
Policy-related professional experience
Highly effective communication skills, both verbal and written
Accomplished scholar-teacher who is effective working within traditional disciplines and in transdisciplinary inquiry related to global policy studies and international relations
A demonstrated ability to network with university faculty/staff and organizations nationally and internationally
