Maintenance Mechanic Leader, WL-4749-10, MP
The position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Base Elizabeth City, Maintenance Branch of the Facilities Engineering Division. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a leader and perform duties that require skill in the air conditioning and electrical trades.

Responsibilities
Installing, recognizing the cause of faulty equipment and making repairs on large systems that provide for a variety of air conditioning systems and functions such as heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, cleaning, filtering, and circulating
Installing, modifying, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, and loading new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment
Working from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering, drawings, and electrical maintenance and repair manuals to plan and lay out the routing, placement type, size, gauge, balance load, continuity, and safe operation of electrical lines, circuits, systems, equipment and controls
Determining and placing distribution panels, boxes, fittings, and connections and installing wiring, couplings, conduit, relays, fixtures, transformers and other electrical devices
Planning and laying out work, tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems and completing repairs and installations with little or no advice
Qualification
Required
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must be registered or exempt from the Selective Service
A one-year probationary period may be required
State Driver's License
Universal Technician Certification

Specific knowledge must-be demonstrated in the electrical trade including the application of electrical principles, materials, and safety standards to jobs involving the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment in industrial, institutional, office, and residential buildings including High Voltage and Air Conditioning systems
