Responsibilities

Broad program management responsibilities of a clinical care team, including leadership in the development, implementation, evaluation, and oversight of a complex program responsible for comprehensive clinical care of Veterans
Leading a number of multidisciplinary teams, which include psychologists, physicians, social workers, nurses, and other health professionals and trainees
Development, implementation, and oversight of operational policies and procedures for the programs, with the approval of the affiliated Service Line leader
Conducting ongoing program evaluation and data-driven quality improvement projects that monitor the effectiveness of clinical operations within their respective program(s)
Functioning as the first line supervising authority (i.e., rater) for (5) Program Managers and (5) front-line staff members
Providing administrative, as well as clinical, supervision and/or consultation as appropriate
Providing administrative oversight and clinical consultation to over 50 other interdisciplinary team members for whom the incumbent is not the designated first line rating authority
Taking appropriate disciplinary action for employees with performance problems in a timely and effective manner
Ensuring that appropriate coverage is arranged for patient care responsibilities when staff members are on leave
Approving leave for employees directly under their supervision
Providing comprehensive psychiatric assessment and diagnostic services for Veterans with a broad range of psychopathology receiving care within the Community and Residential Care Services, including services for patients with complex psychopathology requiring advanced diagnostic and intervention skills
Providing education to patients and family members regarding mental disorders and best practices approaches to treatment
Providing comprehensive assessment of Veterans at imminent risk of harm to self and/or others (including grave disability) and facilitating admission for acute psychiatric hospitalization
Ordering, monitoring, and responding to all necessary laboratory and radiological assessments
Providing consultation to health care providers about assessment findings and treatment plan for patients to ensure that care is coordinated, collaborative, and integrated within the Medical Center
Providing evening and weekend on-call coverage, as assigned
Providing on-call and back up coverage, as needed, to evening and weekend medical staff in the MHRRTP to provide consultation and guidance in medical decision making

Doctor of Podiatric MedicineResidency TrainingBoard CertificationSupervisory ExperienceEnglish Proficiency

Required

Degree as a doctor of podiatric medicine, or its equivalent, from a school of podiatric medicine approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs
Completed, or currently completing, residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification
Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice Podiatry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia
