Senior Director of Development, Corporate Relations

Responsibilities

Responsible for developing and managing highly strategic relationships in support of significant UNT initiatives, with a focus on corporate prospects for support through multi-year commitments to Campaign priorities and sponsorships of signature events and programs
Initiates and facilitates new relationships with potential university partners
Plans, designs, and implements prospect and solicitation strategies in support of university priorities, including those to support the Look North Campaign
Maintains appropriate proportion of constituents in all stages of the development cycle: (discovery, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship/re-cultivation) in securing five- to seven-figure gifts
Conducts data analysis, research and evaluations designed to identify, contact, and secure support from prospects
Demonstrates expertise in cultivating and managing donor relationships to inspire engagement with UNT, connecting prospects and donors with the UNT mission, and eliciting major gift commitments and sponsorships for signature events, with attention to those that can support priorities in Dallas and Houston
Researches corporate funding sources in response to current and future institutional priorities and identifies promising new opportunities for donor alignment
Leverages robust collaborative skills to work effectively and in concert with internal University partners to develop and execute donor strategies with a view toward the highest and most impactful outcomes for the University as a whole
Responsible for the preparation and submission of corporate gift proposals, sponsorship agreements for programs and signature events
Knowledgeable in submission of gift and grant proposals, impact reports, and high-level briefings
Knowledgeable in producing other collaterals for communication with prospective donors
Collaborates with faculty and Advancement team in submission of proposals, including writing narratives, organizing support documents, articulating sponsorship recognition benefits, distributing draft proposals for review, and preparing final gift/grant packages
As needed, support or coordinate proposals to foundation prospects
Meets regularly with Advancement leadership to advance development and fundraising goals
Monitors and enters all activity in the database system in an accurate and timely manner
Generates fundraising reports as needed for leadership
Coordinates stewardship efforts to maintain positive relationships with existing donors
Develops and composes follow-up proposals, impact reports, recognition plans for gifts and event sponsorships
Assists in developing, coordinating, and implementing stewardship functions, as relevant to donor relations
Attends relevant events, including the coordination of donor campus visits and appearances
Other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree and seven years of professional experience in fundraising, donor relations, public relations, or sales; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Extensive knowledge of philanthropy and fundraising principles
Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining effective professional relationships with internal and external constituents
Ability to plan, organize, develop and execute strategies
Ability to attend numerous off site events and meetings and travel and work evenings and weekends as necessary
Ability to establish and maintain cordial, productive, and professional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Exceptional communications skills
Ability to master University policies and procedures and apply these in specific situations
Ability to exercise resourcefulness and good judgment
Ability to manage multiple streams of work
Demonstrated excellent analytical skills, problem solving ability and strong critical thinking skills

Preferred

Bachelor's degree and five years of professional, related experience
Three years of progressively responsible development experience focused on corporate and/or foundation relations in a nonprofit/higher education environment, or in an industry environment
Working knowledge and experience working in collaboration with faculty in a Tier One research institution and successfully matching Advancement initiatives with corporations and other partners
Demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative spirit with academic deans and faculty leaders (or their industry equivalents), facilitating open communication, and integrating their insights into fundraising strategies to ensure shared ownership and success
