Responsibilities

Research, design and execute innovative and well-controlled experiments, with high attention to detail
Lead, mentor and drive cross functional teams
Identify and troubleshoot problems in creative ways
Contribute to the definition and timely achievement of project goals
Develop SOPs to aid in the production of reagents and starting materials
Participate in the production of reagents and starting materials
Perform data analysis and protocol development
Maintain accurate, detailed and reliable laboratory records
Present findings at group or departmental meetings
Maintain the lab’s cleanliness and organization
Develop and propose improved processes to fulfill the above functions

Required

6 years of laboratory experience in advanced nucleotide/heterocyclic chemistry, phosphorus chemistry and/or complex/multi-step organic synthesis
Bachelor's degree in Organic Synthesis, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry or a related field and 8 years of experience
Master's degree in Organic Synthesis, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry or a related field and 7 years of experience
PhD in Organic Synthesis, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry or a related field and 4 years of experience

Preferred

Demonstrated ability to understand and develop chemistry for: Nucleotides, Phosphoramidites, Heterocycles, Amino Acids, Bio-conjugations
Mature understanding of how to work with chemical and biochemical samples, including sample handling, reactivity, purification and storage
Technical background in next-generation DNA sequencing
Experience with HPLC, MS, NMR, automated DNA synthesizers, inert atmosphere chambers, and manual pipetting
