Responsibilities
Directly supervises employees in the Surgery Center
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems
Develops proper clinical procedures that ensure patient safety, comfort and quality
Develops appropriate admission and discharge procedures and assures that pre-admission criteria are appropriately met
Researches and prepares cost reduction proposals and implements them as applicable
Evaluates ongoing patient care and reports significant patient problems to appropriate team members
Collaborates with Human Resources to ensure personnel policy development and communication to staff to achieve consistency in employee relations
Serves as resource and role model for staff
Plans, evaluates, recommends and implements new initiatives when appropriate
Selects and hires employees according to established guidelines. Monitors, coaches, develop and evaluate performance of staff on an ongoing basis in accordance with applicable performance standards
Assures that the facility meets all related local, state, federal, and accrediting body rules and regulations
Assures compliance with all surgery center policies and procedures and governmental regulations pertaining to:
Controlled substances
Infection Control
Patient confidentiality
CPR, ACLS, safety and risk management in collaboration with the Compliance Director and HR
Quality improvements and quality assurance
Emergency codes and evacuation
Professional Licensure and Credentialing
DOH, CMS, JACHO, accreditation bureau and all other voluntary regulatory requirements
Contributes to organizational ASC development plan
Establishes and maintains effective working relations with vendors, employees, managers and Physicians
Assists with the development of patient education material
Identifies variances to budget and presents solutions to correct the variances
Monitors patient experience feedback and contributes to the process of resolving complaints and service issues
Maintains the safety, security, and confidentiality of medical records
Organizes and participates in required MEC, Governing Body, and QAPI meetings
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
At least one year of leadership experience in an Operating Room or ASC setting is required
Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) is required
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required in the state where the worksite is located
The Manager will have demonstrable skills in leadership, management, interpersonal relations, conflict resolution, and problem solving
Must be able to provide proof of their identity and their right to work in the United States
Favorable result on background check required
Knowledge of state and federal regulations for this position; general understanding of HIPAA guidelines
Detail-oriented, professional attitude, reliable
Management and organizational skills to support the leadership of this function
Ability to follow or provide verbal and written instructions with sufficient grammar and spelling skills to avoid mistakes or misinterpretations
Interpersonal skills to support customer service, functional and teammate support needs
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
Ability for basic to intermediate problem solving, including mathematics
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
Specialty knowledge of systems relating to job function
This role requires a variety of physical activities to effectively perform essential job functions. The position involves frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), and standing (50%), with regular bending, stooping, and reaching (25–50%). Employees must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs. Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands are essential, as the role demands constant grasping, writing/typing, and use of technology. Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus—is required 100% of the time. Occasional driving or climbing may also be necessary
