Production Editor

Responsibilities

Manage book production for all editions of typeset titles and ebooks, including: assigning and reviewing copy edits and proofreads of text and layouts; liaising with designer on illustration schedule and covers, trafficking materials among vendors, editorial, and design; and keeping all parties in sync with series consistency, schedules, and deliverables
For high-profile or complex titles, adding additional steps such as supplemental meetings and documentation with manager and supporting team
Create status reports and lead and/or participate in department and project team meetings; follow up on meeting results
Manage the House Style Guide

Required

Excellent copyediting and proofreading skills
Strong knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation
Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and juggling multiple projects
Strong computer skills – MAC preferred -- including facility with advanced functions of Adobe Acrobat
Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally with multiple project stakeholders
