Responsibilities

Develop and execute a comprehensive safety strategy aligned with project and company goals
Managing the project environmental health and safety programs, driving a safety-oriented approach to work
Compiling, analyzing, and interpreting occupational illness and accident statistical data at the project level; recommending process and product safety features that will reduce employee exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards
Routinely inspecting the facilities, machinery, and safety equipment in order to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance
Routinely monitoring the workforce for unsafe behaviors and coach employees on the correct behaviors when observed
Developing environmental health and safety training materials to include manuals, brochures, PowerPoint presentations etc
Developing a paperwork management system to track training records to track all safety training initiatives conducted personally or by outside consultants/vendors
Interpreting safety regulations for the project
Coordinating and presenting safety training to support client requirements including new hire orientation, fall protection, confined space, lockout/tagout and repertory
Interfacing with Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) (Provincial or federal) officials/inspectors in the event or a site visit
Lead and mentor a team of safety professionals
Conduct high-level safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations
Direct incident investigations and oversee the development of corrective action plans
Provide executive-level reports on safety performance and metrics for the project
Collaborate with senior management and project teams to integrate safety into all aspects of the project
Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in safety practices
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement

Required

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field
Minimum of 20+ years of experience in safety management within the self-perform construction industry, with a focus on vertical building projects
Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards
Proven leadership and team management skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in safety management software and tools
Regular, reliable attendance
Work productively and meet deadlines timely
Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies
Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required
May work at various different locations and conditions may vary

Preferred

Experience with Data Center projects preferred
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification preferred
