Information Technology Technician I

Responsibilities
Moves and sets up workstations, including supplying computer terminal, data connection, and telephone; installs desktop equipment, and software; installs emulation software; installs, maintains and troubleshoots cellular phones, tablets, and mobile computers in public safety vehicles; works with various vendors to support these systems
Services existing electronic equipment requiring repair or complex preventive maintenance; performs scheduled upgrades to existing personal computer systems and other devices
Evaluates and diagnoses computer hardware and software problems associated with the City's computers and related equipment; performs diagnostic testing; repairs equipment
Assists users with operational questions or problems and in the use of computer software applications related to specific departmental activities
Recovers computer assets and evaluates/repurposes viable hardware; decommissions obsolete hardware
Coordinates with vendor representatives to resolve problems with system applications and with troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance; works with software providers to accomplish specific maintenance and modifications
Maintains the City’s phone system and sets-up voice mail, initial greetings, and automated options
Assists with all electronic equipment used in the Council Chambers during all meetings
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Education equivalent to graduation from high school
Work experience performing technical support and network administration on personal computers and peripheral equipment, including software administration
Possession of a valid California Operator's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles
The ability to successfully pass a medical, psychological and background screening
Must live within 35 mile of Ripon City Hall
Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and training including cybersecurity and cloud technologies
Preferred
Equivalent to an associate degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
Experience in the related qualifying area of education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis

Vacation – 10 days vacation at 1 year of service; 15 days at 4 years; 20 days at 14 years; 25 days at 25 years.
Holidays – 13 paid holidays per year (includes birthday and 3 floating days).
Sick leave – 8 hours of sick leave is earned per month with unlimited accumulation and 100% credit for unused sick leave upon retirement and/or resignation with 20 years or more continuous service to be cashed out and/or used towards medical benefits.
