NAS-Sr Consultant
Zachry Group is seeking a Senior Consultant who will utilize independent judgment in performing calculations and designs while justifying analyses to regulatory and safety reviews. The role requires expert knowledge in nuclear and mechanical disciplines and software engineering, with responsibilities including data analysis, software development, and project management.

Data and information gathering
Data manipulation and task automation for analysis input
Performing computations and analyses
Performing investigations and research of issues/problems
Review of calculations/analyses, investigations, and research
Preparation and review of Thermal-Hydraulic, Chemical Process, Carbon Capture, Hydrogen/Ammonia production and/or Radiological computer models
Software development, verification and validation
Design and conduct experiments and analyze results
Independently formulate and solve problems
Develop new solution techniques and/or improved engineering processes
Occasionally mentor personnel on technical approaches, processes, and techniques
Analyze system specification and translate into software requirements specification
Review and maintain legacy code
Participate in technical design meetings with both staff and clients
Document code in a manner consistent with company standards
Test and review software
Analyzes system specifications and translates to software requirements specification
Develop new techniques and/or improve software development processes
Serves as a project manager of appropriate sized projects
Mentors younger professionals on occasion
Prepares and reviews scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments
Prepares proposals for professional services
Member of industry organization preferred, leadership role or committee participation encouraged; technical presentations/publications support
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in nuclear, mechanical, or chemical engineering or an appropriate science from an ABET/EAC accredited program
Twelve (12) years of experience minimum, with at least four (4) of those years (since receiving the Bachelor's Degree) in the nuclear, chemical, petrochemical, sustainability (e.g., carbon capture, hydrogen, ammonia, energy storage), or aerospace industries
A minimum of six (6) years of experience is considered for candidates who possess a PhD in an appropriate engineering discipline (nuclear, mechanical, or chemical)
Experience in the analysis, design and/or operation of nuclear, chemical, petrochemical or sustainability plants is desired
Experience with complex computer software, such as process simulation, thermal-hydraulic or CFD computer code analysis, is required
Individuals who are additionally involved with software development must demonstrate knowledge of computer languages, data structures, and software design methods and techniques
Experience maintaining and extending codes developed under a software QA program
Experience in code walkthroughs and reviewing and checking analyses prepared by other engineers
Good oral and written communication skills as well as presentation skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required
Effective time management skills are required as position may involve working on several projects concurrently
Ability to pass security and drug screening and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access is required
Ability to understand and comply with company policies, procedures, and processes
Overtime work is required at times
Travel is required to client sites with occasional periods of field/office work
Ability to perform walk downs of equipment in an industrial plant environment, to include climbing ladders, accessing security-controlled areas, and entering confined spaces and controlled hazardous areas is required
Capability of a candidate to comply with export controls under U.S. law will be taken into consideration
Preferred
MS or PhD in an appropriate engineering discipline (nuclear, mechanical, or chemical) from an ABET accredited university is desired
Experience with sustainable hydrogen analysis is desired
Experience in reviewing and checking analyses prepared by other engineers is desired
Knowledge of and experience in project scheduling techniques is a plus
Knowledge of and experience with Ansys and other Computational Fluid Dynamics software products is a plus
Knowledge of and experience with developing and integrating advanced technologies is a plus
Professional Engineer certification is desired
