Responsibilities
Join a collaborative NIH-funded research program focused on the development of mortality surveillance systems from Tribal health departments
Develop innovative Bayesian hierarchical spatio-temporal models to integrate multiple surveillance systems, correct measurement error and racial misclassification, and generate accurate small-area (county-level) opioid mortality estimates in partnership with Cherokee Nation Public Health
Qualification
Required
A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field
Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills
The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues
Additional qualifications as specified by the Principal Investigator
Preferred
PhD in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or Demography, or a related field
Strong expertise in Bayesian modeling (e.g., hierarchical models, CAR/GMRF, state-space models, MCMC)
Proficiency in R; experience with NIMBLE, or similar Bayesian frameworks
Demonstrated ability to write and communicate research findings clearly
