The Clinical Counselor Registered Intern is responsible for delivering behavioral health assessments and counseling services to promote recovery and wellbeing, working under the supervision of a licensed clinician.

Responsibilities

Provide behavioral health assessment and counseling information and services to individuals and families with the goal to promote recovery and overall wellbeing in a CHS office/facility, client home or school community setting

Provide supportive clinical counseling services, such as individual, group and family therapy, including TBOS, Outpatient or BHOS, as necessary

Deliver evidence-based treatment interventions (e.g., Trauma-Focused Care, Infant Mental Health)

Complete billable units and enter applicable data into the Client Information System (CIS) and other data systems in a timely manner as required by the program and/or contract requirements

Facilitate psycho-educational classes and/or groups such as parenting skills, independent living skills, anger management, behavior management, substance abuse, MAPP/Pride training, etc

Provide case management services including information, plan referral and linkages, where appropriate

Coordinate services with other professionals/para-professionals; liaise with other social service agencies and organizations

Provide in-depth clinical assessment, diagnosis of clinical conditions, treatment plans and intervention under the supervision of a licensed clinician, including one of the following: TBOS, Outpatient or BHOS services (only provided in Residential settings), when necessary

Oversee the behavioral program or treatment interventions associated with the client’s treatment plan

Participate in peer review process to oversee that services provided comply with contract, Medicaid and licensing requirements, COA, and internal quality assurance standards

Coordinate and supervise therapeutic family visitation, when necessary

Review and monitor billing for clinical services

Train direct care team members regarding components of the individualized treatment plan, when necessary

Meet established program productivity goals while upholding the CHS standard of care

Provide weekly family therapy or individual therapy to program youth using the Treatment Foster Care Oregon (TFCO) TFCO model, including introducing new behavioral, coping and parenting skills or individual social skills and practicing these in sessions using strategic positive reinforcement and coaching interventions

Attend TFCO model clinical training and attend weekly clinical meetings

Attend all required trainings on domestic violence concepts

Provide weekly therapy to clients identified to be survivors of domestic violence

Enter all client assessments, including the DV Danger Assessments and HITS, in CHS’s Electronic Health Record

Complete risk and safety planning with clients, utilizing an incident calendar, home mapping and other relevant documents

Coordinate with the Domestic Violence Liaison to ensure the continuum of care for the survivor and the children, relating to the need of various community resources

Provide weekly therapy to clients identified to be offenders of domestic violence using the selected BIP model, working through topics including: awareness and recognition, assessment and understanding, assessing their role in committing violence, application of the principles, and accountability for living an abuse-free life

Provide group therapy sessions with offenders

Develop and maintain clinical records and program documentation according to contract and CHS standards (assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, termination summaries, etc.)

Generate and maintain necessary reports and paperwork in a timely manner (e.g., Quality Assurance and program reports)

Participate in treatment and/or multidisciplinary teams, including TBOS, Outpatient or BHOS (residential setting only) and/or treatment team meetings, as required by the program

Provide crisis-counseling services to families

Make collateral contacts to assess client progress and functioning

Provide on-call support as required or scheduled

Develop a strong knowledge base and stay current on behavioral health-related issues and trends

Participate actively in departmental meetings, training and education, and the quality management process

Comply with CHS’s code of conduct, policies, practices, contracts and other legal obligations

Assist with training other team members and providing back up when necessary

Pick up projects on the fly; perform other duties as assigned from time to time

Required

MA/MS from an accredited university/college in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy or Mental Health Counseling – OR – MA/MS from an accredited university/college with a major in the field of Nursing, Rehabilitation, Special Education, Health Education or a related human services field AND have completed graduate level coursework in at least 4 of the following 13 content areas: human growth and development, diagnosis and treatment of psychopathology, human sexuality, counseling theories and techniques, group theories and practice, dynamics of marriage and family systems, individual evaluation and assessment, career and lifestyle assessment; research and program evaluation, personality theories, social and cultural foundations, counseling in the community settings, and substance use disorders

Active, unrestricted registered intern status in the State of Florida

FL Drivers' License within 30 days/hire, along with daily access to a reliable and insured vehicle

Two years of post-Bachelors experience working with at-risk children and families or one year post-Masters experience

Two years of experience providing services to persons with behavioral health disorders and/or the ability to be supervised by a licensed practitioner of the healing arts (LPHA)

Must meet Medicaid Master's level practitioner staff qualifications as outlined in the Florida Medical Handbook

Must meet Council on Accreditation (COA) standards for specific skills and knowledge that pertain to the program in which the team member is working

Must designate credentials following one of these examples: [Name], Registered Clinical Social Worker Intern, [Name], Registered Mental Health Intern, or [Name], Registered Marriage & Family Therapist Intern

Is not permitted to use the following titles or any combination of terms solely within Group A, any combination of terms solely within Group B, or any combination of terms solely within Group C when describing their work: Clinical Social Worker, Psychiatric Social Worker, Psychosocial Worker, Marriage & Family Therapist, Marriage Counselor, Marriage Consultant, Family Therapist, Family Counselor, Family Consultant, Mental Health Counselor, Mental Health Therapist, Mental Health Consultant

Is not permitted to use the following titles: Psychotherapist, Sex Therapist or Juvenile Sexual Offender Therapist
