Maintenance Engineer
Pinnacle is focused on helping industrial facilities improve reliability performance and is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to drive refinery reliability, safety, and profitability. The role involves anticipating problems, eliminating failures, and transforming maintenance into a strategic advantage while collaborating with operations and engineering teams.

Responsibilities
Drive asset improvement in areas of safety, environmental, reliability and process capacity
Identify and develop recommendations for changes and projects to improve unit operation
Participate in and eventually lead root cause analyses (RCA) for mechanical and process equipment failures
Assist in maintaining and improving PM/PdM programs, with increasing responsibility over time
Support and progressively take ownership of reliability strategy for critical assets (pumps, exchangers, vessels, piping, compressors)
Optimize spare parts inventory and maintenance planning processes
Coordinate with operations to schedule and execute maintenance activities
Support turnaround planning and project scope development
Track and improve reliability KPIs (MTBF, MTTR, PM compliance)
Drive bad actor elimination and reliability improvement initiatives
Champion use of CMMS, data analytics, and digital reliability tools
Qualification
Required
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering Technology/Reliability
5+ years of industrial maintenance, reliability, or engineering experience in a refinery
Experience specifically working with rotating equipment + Pumps (multi-stage and direct drive) and various compressors (small to medium) - 50-80hp range
Demonstrated troubleshooting ability and willingness to develop engineering-level analytical skills
Understanding of how a good RCA works; previous facilitation experience or ability to quickly become a facilitator
Humility and foresight when to engage an SME as needed
Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
Preferred
Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) or Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE)
Working knowledge of API 510/570/653, ASME codes, and reliability tools (RCM, FMEA, RCA)
Familiarity with risk-based inspection (RBI) and fitness-for-service (FFS) assessments
Proficiency with data visualization or analytics tools (Power BI, Spotfire, Excel)
Proficiency in CMMS (SAP, Maximo, etc.) and maintenance planning systems
Experience using condition monitoring and predictive maintenance technologies
