Responsibilities

Assist in evaluating capital requirements for new products, business initiatives, and strategic projects; Collaborate with business units to gather relevant data and ensure accurate capital assessment
Analyze the impact of proposed changes in models and methodologies from business units on capital requirements; Liaise with model development and validation teams to understand changes and explains details to management; Prepare documentation and presentations summarizing capital impact for senior management and regulatory review
Support the review and update of capital planning and reporting policies and procedures to align with regulatory guidance and industry best practices; Ensure governance frameworks are current and reflect changes in business strategy, models, or regulatory requirements
Assist in preparation of the capital forecasts for all monthly, quarterly, annual and multi-year business planning cycles across a range of scenarios including Annual Business Plan, regulatory stress testing (DFAST), Capital Planning and Risk Appetite setting partnering with the business finance teams and in coordination with Legal, Regulatory Affairs, Risk, etc
Perform capital metrics related benchmarking vs. competitors and banks based on regulatory/Basel rules and industry developments to advise management on capital optimization opportunities
Provide Capital related analytics and updates for key stakeholder sessions such as the Capital Committee, Capital Management Council, Risk Committee, Board meetings, FHFA meetings, etc
Assist management in strategic projects and support a wide range of analytical work to support Freddie’s capital strategies e.g. capital accretion, capital stack, eventual capital distribution, capital build toward its target state where Freddie Mac will be considered fully capitalized under the regulatory capital framework

Required

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, or a related field required
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in capital planning, financial analysis, or risk management within banking or financial services
Excellent verbal and written communication and strategic thinking skills to engage with senior leadership with ability to develop presentations and management dashboards
Ability to deliver positive change, influence and build strong relationships across different / divergent areas and stakeholders in complex organizations
Strong business acumen and analytical skills with ability to think critically, analyze problems and develop creative and practical solution
Technical expertise in capital management, capital planning, stress testing, and risk management
Exceptionally strong analytical, project management, and communication skills; with the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
Ability to quickly pick up complicated concepts and engage subject matter experts to obtain desired inputs/results for analysis
Detailed oriented and due diligence in all deliverables
Demonstrate the ability to build good relationships across the Enterprise
Ability to use data to help inform strategy and direction
Show flexibility in thinking as we develop new processes as multiple iterations are likely to happen before a workstream is completed
Provide resolutions to an extensive range of complicated problems. Solutions should be innovative, thorough, and practicable
Be independent and a thought-leader in determining and developing approach to solutions

Preferred

Advanced degree or relevant certification (e.g., CFA, FRM)
Previous experience related to capital management, capital planning, reporting and analysis
Knowledge of the Basel capital framework, secondary mortgage market, financial statements and business practices, Dodd Frank Stress Testing (DFAST)
