Sr. Controls Engineer

Responsibilities

Install and hook-up manufacturing equipment, exercising care as to size of motors, voltage requirements, and balance circuits for proper power distribution
Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair equipment breakdowns involving mechanical and electrical components
Hire and build out facility Controls Team
Lead the Controls Team in new equipment and upgrade projects
Manage Electrical Contractors to maintain facility electrical systems
Diagnose nature of problem, perform a variety of electrical test procedures, disassemble equipment and replace defective parts, make connections, reassemble and test
Design control panels designed to UL Standards
Proficiency with VFD programming and troubleshooting
Able to take call outs for machine brake-downs (all hours)
Work closely with engineering to alter and modify production machinery
Perform daily inspections of all equipment plant wide to identify possible equipment problems
Pull parts as required from stock, notify purchasing clerk or supervisor when to reorder parts
Proficient in sizing loads and breaker sizing for machinery
Experience with PLC Ladder Logic and Function Block diagram programming
Program and troubleshoot with GE, Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC’s
Draw basic circuits and electrical diagrams for small equipment
Conduct Root Cause Analysis for Electrical Failures
Network design and implementation
Designing safety systems

Required

Associated Degree in an Automation/Electrical program is required
Bachelors Degree in Related field
4 years of experience in a related field

Preferred

Experience with injection molding and Extruding machinery a plus
Familiar with Solidworks electrical Schamatic is a plus
Possesses a strong ability to work independently, as well as part of a high functioning maintenance and engineering team
Use a variety of electrical test instruments especially multi-meters, computer, hand power tools, grinders, forklift truck, man lift, hoists and hand tools
Ability to read Electrical Drawings, as well as redline the drawings as field modifications are made, update drawings as needed
Able to Set short term priorities in responding to plant breakdowns and coordinate with Maintenance and Operations Supervisors
Vibration Analysis
Proficiency in Motor Control Theory
Proficiency in P&ID design
