Senior Architect, Rail + Transit

They are seeking a highly skilled Senior Architect to lead the planning and design of transit facilities for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and related agencies in New York, focusing on high-profile infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities
Lead architectural design and documentation for transit facilities including passenger stations, support buildings, and yard/maintenance facilities
Coordinate across disciplines (structural, MEP, civil) and work closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders throughout project lifecycle
Manage subconsultants and internal design teams, ensuring timely, coordinated, and technically sound deliverables
Interpret and implement MTA design standards, codes, and client expectations
Participate in client meetings, presentations, and stakeholder engagement processes
Oversee design production from conceptual design through construction documents and construction administration
Provide quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reviews for architectural work products
Qualification
Required
Registered Architect (RA) in New York State – required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited program
Minimum 10 years of architectural experience, with a strong focus on transit or transportation infrastructure projects
Proven track record working with MTA agencies (MTA C&D, NYCT, LIRR, or Metro-North) on facilities such as stations, yards, and maintenance buildings
Deep understanding of applicable NYC codes, ADA, NFPA, and MTA design guidelines
Strong technical design, documentation, and construction-phase experience
Proficient in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with 3D visualization tools a plus
Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills
Ability to lead teams and mentor junior staff in a collaborative environment
Preferred
Experience with MTA Capital Program and familiarity with design submittal processes
Previous work on federally funded projects or Design-Build project delivery
LEED accreditation or interest in sustainable infrastructure design
