Electrical Systems Specialist
Penn State University is seeking an Electrical Systems Specialist to join the Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute. The role involves providing technical insight and services focused on power systems critical to facility operations, including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and client training.

Responsibilities
Perform preventative maintenance and testing services of low and medium voltage electrical distribution equipment including switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, relays, and cabling, in coordination client site maintenance personnel
Troubleshoot electrical system issues, investigate faults, perform minor corrective repairs, and respond to emergency power interruptions and outages
Assess client electrical systems and recommend services to improve reliability, compliance, and safety, and develop project scopes and objectives based on recommendations provided
Plan and manage project activities, including scheduling, personnel coordination, material needs, electrical outages, and safe work procedures
Prepare technical reports summarizing project activities, observations, actions taken, test results, and recommendations for follow-up
Provide on-site training to client maintenance personnel in electrical safety, operations, and maintenance practices
Offer off-site (remote) client technical support, including troubleshooting assistance, corrective action recommendations, and responses to technical inquiries through verbal and written communication
Qualification
Required
Associate Degree
6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check are required
Successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies
