Health & Safety Intern

Responsibilities
Work on problems of limited scope and contribute on projects or processes while receiving detailed instructions from higher-level professionals
Develop and implement policies and practices to mitigate hazardous conditions within the workplace
Identify potential workplace hazards, unsafe equipment, work practices, and working conditions
Investigate accidents and collaborate with engineers, management, and health and safety regulatory authorities to identify causes of accidents and prevent their recurrence
Maintaining and analyzing records of workplace injuries, illness, and absences to identify areas of concern and provide information required by regulatory agencies
Assist in delivering training, learning, and development requirements to employees
Apply interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with fellow teammates and achieve common goals
Work in a hands-on environment with cross-functional teams
Utilize project management skills to develop, manage, and control scope, schedule, and cost
Maintain relationships with the community, environmental groups, and other stakeholders impacted by the environmental performance of the organization
Qualification
Required
To be pursuing a degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Occupational Health Sciences, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Technology, or another applicable major and actively enrolled in an accredited university the semester prior to your start date
To be sophomore-senior level standing with a GPA of at least 3.0
To be available to work 40 hours weekly in a 12-week internship assignment
