Responsibilities

Research methods for converting waste materials into functional activated carbon
Spearhead the design, synthesis, conversion techniques, and optimization strategies for carbon-based materials, aiming to tailor their physicochemical properties for HTC and activated carbon applications
Support scale-up processes from lab to pilot to commercial scale
Collaborate with cross-functional teams in engineering and product development
Maintain rigorous documentation and ensure reproducibility of experiments

Required

Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
Direct experience with carbon conversion including, pre-treatment strategies, carbonization & activation pathways, pyrolysis, HTC, characterization & analysis, and scaling processes
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status is required due to federal contract requirements

Preferred

Familiarity with battery and energy storage is a plus
