Network Operations Manager
NexGen Networks is a telecommunications company providing network transport services globally. The Network Operations Manager will troubleshoot and resolve network issues for business customers, manage support tickets, and ensure optimal network setup and performance.

Responsibilities
Identifies, troubleshoots and resolves hardware-, software- and network-related problems encountered by business customers on our network
Configure, test and installs network equipment such as cisco, etc
Performs primary network system administration on network servers as needed
Installs, certifies and troubleshoots network cabling infrastructure, including metro area & wide area network/telecom equipment and software
Uses established tracking system to log requests; monitors progress, tracks problem resolution, identifies patterns of failure, researches bug fixes and implements solutions; communicates with manager regarding unresolved problems
Works with vendors to resolve hardware operating system issues; researches and tests possible solutions and implements solutions. Analyzes bugs in system and software; researches and tests possible solutions; implements solutions
Works with programmers to solve problems & improve internal systems
Optimizes computer usage by researching and recommending enhancements to system capabilities and performance
Enforces our companies network security and installation procedures
Work rotating, including on call shifts in a 24/7 environment to support our global network
Field dispatch and driving to locations will be a requirement
Qualification
Required

Minimum: bachelor's degree in a related field (or working towards this)
Experience working with network technology & systems technologies such as cisco, juniper, ciena, snmp server, dell, and knowledge of program applications
Experience working with persons from diverse cultural
Must be highly motivated
Must be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of a fast growing company working and supporting financial markets customers
Strong work ethic and multi-tasking ability
Able to work unsupervised, but also to utilize direction, supervision, criticism, and training effectively
Excellent analytical problem solving and decision-making abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Driver's license is a requirement
Identify, analyze and troubleshoot a wide range of complex technical computer- and network-related problems effectively

Deliver customer support both in-person and over the phone in a professional manner
Learn and provide support for our network
Learn and apply new technical knowledge quickly

Knowledge of capabilities and limitations of various systems, including local area networks and wide area networks
Knowledge of the principles of information systems design, especially related to multi-protocol, multi-platform environments
Knowledge of principles and practices of networking technologies
Thorough understanding of lan/wan protocols
Knowledge of theory and practice of lan/wan administration
Mastery of desktop operating systems and various software applications
Education: bachelor's degree with at least two years of coursework in computer sciences
Experience: current experience providing level two technical desktop and network support in a large multi-platform and multi-operating systems environment or one year of experience and an mcp (microsoft certified professional) certificate
Demonstrated experience implementing local area networks using multi operating systems and platforms, network and computer trouble-shooting and problem solving skills required, including knowledge of networking theory, principles and practices
Specific knowledge of tcp/ip, routing, lan/man switching using cisco equipment
Knowledge of web programming would also be helpful
Preferred
Preferred: bachelor's degree and internship experience
