Senior Wafer Technician (2nd Shift: 11am-7:30pm

Draper is an independent, nonprofit research and development company headquartered in Cambridge, MA. They are seeking a Senior Wafer Technician to operate and maintain fabrication tools, troubleshoot issues with engineers, and assemble and test prototype hardware in a cleanroom environment.

Responsibilities

Performs skilled assembly work; build, assemble, modify and/or repair prototypes
Provides support to engineers on technical projects and/or product; collect, maintain, organize, compile, and manipulate technical data per guidelines
Prepares engineering documentation, reports, and drawings (sketches/flow charts/diagrams/schematics, etc.)
Performs mathematical calculations per engineering specifications
Recommend alternative solutions to problems and obstacles
May set up and conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering analysis
With adequate training, may operate, clean, maintain, and/or calibrate assembly equipment requiring highly skilled and specialized knowledge
Documents work consistent with work unit policy in handwritten form or using common computer-based software
May mentor or train more junior technicians
May perform other duties as assigned specific to a particular engineering area

Required

Solid hands-on experience (5+ years, or 2 years of tech school plus 2 years of work)
Confidence running fabrication equipment and following SOP
Comfort in a cleanroom or lab environment
Focused, careful work habits and good communication
Knowledge of clean room practices and protocols
Knowledge of small scale production environment
Proficiency with MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook
Successful completion of at least four college credit technical courses, including one course in both math and physics, and two engineering electives in the area of engineering they currently work in (i.e. Chemical, Electrical, or Elec/Mech)
At least five years of applicable experience
Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance, which requires proof of US citizenship
