Clinical Intern

BCFS Health & Human Services is dedicated to providing quality services to the service population, especially in crisis situations. The Clinical Intern will be responsible for assessing clients' mental health needs, providing counseling services, and ensuring compliance with established standards while maintaining accurate documentation.

Responsibilities

Assesses personal mental health needs of clients; helps to meet those needs by providing counseling services and referrals
Implements Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with adults, couples, family, adolescent, and child clientele
Offers in office, virtual, or community-based therapy for counseling as appropriate
Facilitate or co-facilitate peer support groups
Serve as hotline operator during scheduled rotation; with support of assigned licensed clinician
Participates in outreach events as assigned
Develops detailed individual Treatment Plans for each client and regularly assesses progress, providing updates to the Treatment Plan as needed
Maintains timely and accurate file documentation and data entry that meets the program requirements
Report any suspected abuse or neglect to supervisor and all appropriate state and county enforcement agencies within 24 hours
Meet all deadlines required by Program Director, Lead Clinician, or state/federal partners
Maintains own schedule of office/virtual sessions, special events, and outreach events
Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-services trainings, and weekly case consultations if required for contract needs
Identifies and maintains professional relationships with clients and community partners
Perform Crisis Intervention techniques to ensure youth are safe
Perform other duties as assigned
Meets all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards that are applicable to this position
Completes client intake assessment; analyzes to determine client needs and Treatment Plan goals and objectives
Attend weekly supervision with program director or lead clinician
Develops, monitors, and reviews with individual an action plan designed to increase strengths, address needs, and reduce conflict in the home
Assists in providing information for all files and program documentation, including, quarterly and monthly reports, data entry and other documentation or reports as needed, with accuracy and timeliness
Locate community resources to meet additional client needs
Coordinates/participates in resource fairs in the community as assigned
Enters required ETO data for all clients within 72 hours of client contact and submit monthly reports as specified by Program Director
Compiles, prepares, submits and maintains accurate records, files, forms and additional information in accordance with agency policies, licensing and/or contract requirements
Implement BCFS safety protocols including evacuating with children and other staff in case of an emergency
Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations
Maintain BCFS HHS professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in the BCFS employee handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, the service population, and community members and complying with the required dress code at all times

Required

Master level student in Counseling or Social Work - must be able to commit to two semesters
If applying for Practicum student must be able to commit to Practicum and two consecutive semesters or quarters
Pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug screens and always maintain emotional control and professional composure
Provides proof of work eligibility status upon request
Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background and motor vehicle check (fingerprints needed if applicant has lived out of state within the past 5 years)
Maintain liability insurance throughout their practicum/internship experience(s)
Students are expected to be enrolled in a graduate-level practicum/internship course throughout the duration of their practicum experience(s)
Demonstrate the ability to respond sensitively and competently to the service population's cultural and socio-economic characteristics
Communicate effectively in writing and verbally
Work in a fast paced environment
Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position
Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team
Travel as needed
Manage time effectively and efficiently
